Renovating the 100 year old farm house my mom grew up in – making it a place for us to grow old in.

The second bedroom on the main floor has a larger closet and a little bit more square footage then the bedroom I’ve designated my office. It is basically right now my grandparents’ old room. This part of the screened-in porch was enclosed around 1968 so it will be a much easier job to take a part as the walls are just wood paneling.

It will be my guest bedroom. The bed frame is already in the house (on the second floor) and made of steel and will be getting a coat of paint. The dresser is the oldest and most amazing piece I salvaged from the house clean out. It is solid wood of some kind and I am currently giving it a coat of black stain and sealant.

As of right now the only room on the main floor that will probably get a different paint color is the office. I have been burned by painting rooms different colors before (or maybe I just got it out of my system) and know better now then to start slapping it on. I swear once you paint a room that already has trim on it – there’s no going back – and you can always tell how many times a room has been painted and I don’t like it. So it might just end up being that not even the office gets a different color of paint – but we shall see. The floors will be dark wood, the ceilings are vaulted and will be white bead board and the walls sheet rock, as usual the trim will be white. Lots of windows!
