Renovating the 100 year old farm house my mom grew up in – making it a place for us to grow old in.

As you might have already read the initial home of the main bathroom was behind the kitchen on the east side of the house. With making the staircase a real staircase and not a mountain climb, the entry to the bathroom disappeared and the only way to reach it would have been through the kitchen. Icky. So, I moved the bathroom because I hate the idea of taking a shower a couple feet from supper cooking on the stove or anyone having to go through the kitchen to get to the bathroom. The only place I had for the new bathroom location however, was a corner of the living room. Ideal? Nope. Not bad? Not bad at all! You should recognize the vanity in the 3d picture, I refinished it last summer, and it sat out on the screened-in porch for the last several decades.

Wood on a bathroom floor!? Am I nuts!? Yup, I’m nuts, and my family seems to like that about me. The floor in the bathroom will be the same as the rest of the floors throughout the house. I am going to seal it well and I’m not worried about it at all. No windows? Yeah… no windows 🙁 This bathroom sits almost in the exact center of everything and is as far from an outside wall as is possible. Oh well – it is an older home, quirks such as the uniqueness of this bathroom from its location to the fact that it has no windows are, of course, what I love about it.
